Have you ever received one of these “holiday offer” phone calls or emails this time around? You know, if you attend a presentation of a contemporary, those who promise hospitality and access to the park at a fraction of the normal cost. If so, you may have wondered about them and wondered if they were worth watching. Well, stand up and say, “I did it!” I’m not ashamed to say. My mom and I went on vacation and took advantage of one of the great time offerings to be real for the first three days. Here are my experiences:
Last summer, my grandmother received an unwanted phone call from a dresser offering cheap Orlando hotel rooms and Disney park tickets. My grandmother always wanted to go, so she called my mother and asked her to look after her. My mom learned that this company (Vacation Showroom, Inc.) offers a “vacation package” of $ 99 / person to stay in several cities (Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Williamsburg and Las Vegas). To stay in Orlando, a hotel was promised 3 nights just 5 minutes away from Disney parks and a one-day park pass per person. He was also told he would have to pay a $ 30 order fee, that Orlando space would cost $ 29 per person, and that he would have to attend a Revolution Revolution sales breakfast. She bought it thinking it would be a good way to take my grandmother on vacation. It cost him $ 228 to buy the package. Alas, my grandmother died before this trip, and I went in her place.
The package promised “quality” accommodation within 10 minutes of attractions such as AmeriHost, Ramada Plaza 1000 or Radisson Barcelo. We could not specify one of these hotels – it will be selected for us due to its availability at the time of booking. As you know, we were booked by Amerihost, which is the closest to Walt Disney World. I did some research before the trip and confirmed that Amerihost offers free services to Walt Disney World. The booking agent said that we need to confirm our arrival late in the morning (20.00) on the day we celebrate. Before we left for the airport, my mother called to confirm that we had arrived by service. So far so good.
Our flight arrived early in the evening and we took a taxi to Amerihost – we didn’t rent a car because the hotel was a shuttle to Walt Disney World. After arriving at the hotel, we walked a bit to find the holiday pack check-in table, which turned out to be the ROAD behind the hotel. We spent a good half hour on it. Finally, my mom registered with the Vacation Showroom timer and got a hotel voucher. We went to the hotel’s check-in desk to get our check, our room, and the accident. Wow, that wasn’t the case. When it was our turn to check in, we confirmed that we were staying that morning, but were told that the hotel had already booked and that we could stay at Ramada Plaza 1000 instead. We both unanimously said “We don’t have transport!” However, the hotel staff did not want to move. After many complaints and arguments, they finally allowed us to return from Ramadan. We were instructed to return to the Holiday Showroom office (required to purchase park tickets) to book our Timeshare presentation meeting and then go to Ramadan.
So we took our luggage to the office, signed up for my time presentation (a $ 20 deposit was required), and picked up a minibus from one of the employees ($ 5). It was a good 20-25 minute drive to Ramadan. When we entered, we learned that there was not only a Disney service, but also that the restaurant had just closed and there was no restaurant to walk to. So we went to our room, ordered from a delivery point, and went to sleep tired. This is not a successful start to our journey.
At the opening time the next morning (at 8:00 am), we introduced ourselves at the Holiday Showroom to take an interest in the promised return. My mother went astray, so I tried. After insisting strongly, the representative said that he provided us with transportation. It turned out that he was looking for a city car company, and after taking us back to Amerihost, the driver demanded $ 40 for the trip. By no means! I went in and talked to an employee at the registration desk, and they gave the driver money. However, we gave the driver a tip for $ 5.
Finally, sign up for Amerihost. The “smoking” oom was the only room available, but we took it to survive to this day. Unfortunately, when we took our bags to the room, the service left last morning. At the concierge’s desk, we asked about transportation to the Animal Kingdom, and we were told that the driver could take both of us for $ 20. We gladly agreed to go. The ride was good and we got $ 5 more.
Devresher’s presentation was the next day. We both knew we had to do this to get park tickets when we were afraid of it. So, at the appointed time, we appeared in the lobby of the hotel and headed to Silver Lake Resort. We waited for the timeshare presentation there. As you know, individual sales representatives came out and called individual names – one sales representative for each party. Joke! We thought we would be safe in a group setting.
Our sales representative took us to a large meeting room with 40 small tables and chairs. A very thin “breakfast buffet” was set up on the side – it was the price of a typical continental breakfast and was not very appetizing. After talking to his family and accidentally spilling his coffee on my mother, he began to talk to them about the value of the holiday in general and the value of earning money for them. We knew all this, but hey no matter what. About an hour later, we toured the two- and three-bedroom condoms at Silver Lake Resort. They looked good – nothing comparable to the Disney Vacation Club resorts, but still good. Then it’s time for a tough sale. He came out of the calculator and told my mother what his monthly payments would be when he got his work time. My mother asked questions very politely and showed genuine interest, but she said with great determination that she would not be able to make an immediate decision. Pushed more and more. My mother was disappointed when she didn’t move (actually put her head in her hands and sighed!). Finally, an hour later he got angry – no joke. He made it clear that we were wasting his time. Ha! He kept us for an hour longer than they said the timeline presentation would take place. When he finally surrendered and left us, I smiled and thanked him for his time. He returned abruptly. As time passed, we returned to Amerihost late and missed the route. We spent another $ 25 to go to Epcot.
Good news? After the presentation, we bought two-day one-day parking tickets. These were actually coupons, but we had no problem exchanging them for real tickets in the parks.
In total, the experience costs us $ 346 when you add transportation costs. At regular prices, a stay at Amerihost would cost $ 69 a night, plus $ 53 x 2 for tickets, for a total of $ 313. In addition, by not exceeding the order limit (rooms were provided to regular customers), we would not have aggravated the traffic jams, wasted time and half-hour presentation.
Was it worth it? If we were to take advantage of an apartment in another city (unless you count the presentation of my time visitor at each party, two nights at Fort Lauderdale, Williamsburg and Las Vegas at each of them at no extra charge). own transport, perhaps – but it’s a big maybe. Otherwise? IN NO WAY! We hated the difficulty, the lack of control, and the high-pressure parachute sales presentation. This was not an agreement. Although I wouldn’t call it a scam, I don’t think the “extremely valuable rumor” is too far from the sign.
My advice? If you don’t have the time or money, stay away from contemporary presentations.
