Timeshare Vacation Offers: Contract or Fraud?

Have you ever received one of these “holiday offer” phone calls or emails this time around? You know, if you attend a presentation of a contemporary, those who promise hospitality and access to the park at a fraction of the normal cost. If so, you may have wondered about them and wondered if they were worth watching. Well, stand up and say, “I did it!” I’m not ashamed to say. My mom and I went on vacation and took advantage of one of the great time offerings to be real for the first three days. Here are my experiences:

Last summer, my grandmother received an unwanted phone call from a dresser offering cheap Orlando hotel rooms and Disney park tickets. My grandmother always wanted to go, so she called my mother and asked her to look after her. My mom learned that this company (Vacation Showroom, Inc.) offers a “vacation package” of $ 99 / person to stay in several cities (Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Williamsburg and Las Vegas). To stay in Orlando, a hotel was promised 3 nights just 5 minutes away from Disney parks and a one-day park pass per person. He was also told he would have to pay a $ 30 order fee, that Orlando space would cost $ 29 per person, and that he would have to attend a Revolution Revolution sales breakfast. She bought it thinking it would be a good way to take my grandmother on vacation. It cost him $ 228 to buy the package. Alas, my grandmother died before this trip, and I went in her place.

The package promised “quality” accommodation within 10 minutes of attractions such as AmeriHost, Ramada Plaza 1000 or Radisson Barcelo. We could not specify one of these hotels – it will be selected for us due to its availability at the time of booking. As you know, we were booked by Amerihost, which is the closest to Walt Disney World. I did some research before the trip and confirmed that Amerihost offers free services to Walt Disney World. The booking agent said that we need to confirm our arrival late in the morning (20.00) on the day we celebrate. Before we left for the airport, my mother called to confirm that we had arrived by service. So far so good.

Our flight arrived early in the evening and we took a taxi to Amerihost – we didn’t rent a car because the hotel was a shuttle to Walt Disney World. After arriving at the hotel, we walked a bit to find the holiday pack check-in table, which turned out to be the ROAD behind the hotel. We spent a good half hour on it. Finally, my mom registered with the Vacation Showroom timer and got a hotel voucher. We went to the hotel’s check-in desk to get our check, our room, and the accident. Wow, that wasn’t the case. When it was our turn to check in, we confirmed that we were staying that morning, but were told that the hotel had already booked and that we could stay at Ramada Plaza 1000 instead. We both unanimously said “We don’t have transport!” However, the hotel staff did not want to move. After many complaints and arguments, they finally allowed us to return from Ramadan. We were instructed to return to the Holiday Showroom office (required to purchase park tickets) to book our Timeshare presentation meeting and then go to Ramadan.

So we took our luggage to the office, signed up for my time presentation (a $ 20 deposit was required), and picked up a minibus from one of the employees ($ 5). It was a good 20-25 minute drive to Ramadan. When we entered, we learned that there was not only a Disney service, but also that the restaurant had just closed and there was no restaurant to walk to. So we went to our room, ordered from a delivery point, and went to sleep tired. This is not a successful start to our journey.

At the opening time the next morning (at 8:00 am), we introduced ourselves at the Holiday Showroom to take an interest in the promised return. My mother went astray, so I tried. After insisting strongly, the representative said that he provided us with transportation. It turned out that he was looking for a city car company, and after taking us back to Amerihost, the driver demanded $ 40 for the trip. By no means! I went in and talked to an employee at the registration desk, and they gave the driver money. However, we gave the driver a tip for $ 5.

Finally, sign up for Amerihost. The “smoking” oom was the only room available, but we took it to survive to this day. Unfortunately, when we took our bags to the room, the service left last morning. At the concierge’s desk, we asked about transportation to the Animal Kingdom, and we were told that the driver could take both of us for $ 20. We gladly agreed to go. The ride was good and we got $ 5 more.

Devresher’s presentation was the next day. We both knew we had to do this to get park tickets when we were afraid of it. So, at the appointed time, we appeared in the lobby of the hotel and headed to Silver Lake Resort. We waited for the timeshare presentation there. As you know, individual sales representatives came out and called individual names – one sales representative for each party. Joke! We thought we would be safe in a group setting.

Our sales representative took us to a large meeting room with 40 small tables and chairs. A very thin “breakfast buffet” was set up on the side – it was the price of a typical continental breakfast and was not very appetizing. After talking to his family and accidentally spilling his coffee on my mother, he began to talk to them about the value of the holiday in general and the value of earning money for them. We knew all this, but hey no matter what. About an hour later, we toured the two- and three-bedroom condoms at Silver Lake Resort. They looked good – nothing comparable to the Disney Vacation Club resorts, but still good. Then it’s time for a tough sale. He came out of the calculator and told my mother what his monthly payments would be when he got his work time. My mother asked questions very politely and showed genuine interest, but she said with great determination that she would not be able to make an immediate decision. Pushed more and more. My mother was disappointed when she didn’t move (actually put her head in her hands and sighed!). Finally, an hour later he got angry – no joke. He made it clear that we were wasting his time. Ha! He kept us for an hour longer than they said the timeline presentation would take place. When he finally surrendered and left us, I smiled and thanked him for his time. He returned abruptly. As time passed, we returned to Amerihost late and missed the route. We spent another $ 25 to go to Epcot.

Good news? After the presentation, we bought two-day one-day parking tickets. These were actually coupons, but we had no problem exchanging them for real tickets in the parks.

In total, the experience costs us $ 346 when you add transportation costs. At regular prices, a stay at Amerihost would cost $ 69 a night, plus $ 53 x 2 for tickets, for a total of $ 313. In addition, by not exceeding the order limit (rooms were provided to regular customers), we would not have aggravated the traffic jams, wasted time and half-hour presentation.

Was it worth it? If we were to take advantage of an apartment in another city (unless you count the presentation of my time visitor at each party, two nights at Fort Lauderdale, Williamsburg and Las Vegas at each of them at no extra charge). own transport, perhaps – but it’s a big maybe. Otherwise? IN NO WAY! We hated the difficulty, the lack of control, and the high-pressure parachute sales presentation. This was not an agreement. Although I wouldn’t call it a scam, I don’t think the “extremely valuable rumor” is too far from the sign.

My advice? If you don’t have the time or money, stay away from contemporary presentations.

Mystery Hotels – To seduce and possibly get a deal

We spent some time looking at’s ‘Mystery Hotel’ range and’s new mystery offers. In some cases, LastMinute’s description of mystery hotels makes it easier to pinpoint the real hotel. Wotif’s mystery hotels are a bit hard to understand, but there are some tips, for example, they sell ‘Comfort’ and ‘Grand Comfort’ rooms in the same city, so you can check out the list of other Wotif hotels in the same city. see which hotel you use for these descriptive rooms. The creator of the secret hotel deal was the US company Priceline, and we have always had serious doubts about their use.

The main objection is that instead of seeing a discounted price at a particular hotel (20% of the price of a regular agent is normal enough for both LastMinute and Wotif), Priceline gives you no clue about the actual hotel and you have to offer a price. you are ready to pay. Priceline helps a bit – it divides cities into regions and shows the normal retail price of hotels in different star categories and offers a discount that you should apply when offering. However, there is a great danger that you will pay more than you need. Priceline may have set a secret minimum offer of $ 80 per night, but if someone offers $ 95, the company will gladly accept the offer. In addition, the work has been very good for the hotel industry in recent years, and we suspect that Priceline sells rooms in some hotels that would otherwise be difficult to attract guests. In other words, you can afford the chances for a lower hotel.

However, now the game has changed a bit. Quite a few hotels have empty rooms and are ready to sell them cheaply through Priceline, provided that their names are not disclosed, so as not to ruin their normal ratings. And, we’ve found a pretty handy guide to help you avoid some Priceline traps.

A community forum for Priceline users (and HotWire, an Expedia section designed for more US customers) The front page is a bit confusing, but scroll down to find a forum dedicated to the area you want to visit. Select Boston and the first post will be a list of hotels that forum members have purchased through Priceline. There is no guarantee that this list will be completely accurate – hotels will come and go according to the season and fullness – but at least you have an idea of the type of hotel you will get in each star category. You will then see the latest posts where members list the deals they actually received from Priceline. You can see that someone was able to offer $ 80 per room at Omni Parker two days ago, and a $ 85 offer a week ago was to buy a room at Hyatt Regency. You should carefully note when bookings are made (weekdays or weekends) and how long bookings are made, as this will affect the price.

This site works best with Priceline’s US hotels. There are fewer shipments for international orders. If you want to stay in Venice in May, it’s helpful to know that someone can offer $ 90 for a room at the Hilton Molino in February.

All the prices on Priceline are preceded by the dreaded ‘taxes and expenses’ that can add a huge amount to the total and clearly include a generous service fee. We couldn’t see how they would think with £ 28 with a basic hotel bill of £ 92. At least you see this number before submitting your offer.

You must provide your payment details when you are ready to proceed. If the offer is accepted, your money will be received immediately and there is no possibility of cancellation or change. If the offer is not accepted, no money will be taken and only a refund is allowed if you change some of the terms of the original offer. A good offer offers a way around it. Let’s say you want to stay in a five-star hotel in an area of Paris. Your initial offer was rejected, so change your offer and add another area of Paris, but there is no Priceline five-star hotel in an area you can see from Betterbidding. Assuming that Priceline doesn’t add a new hotel all of a sudden (which is a very real possibility), then your growing offer for the hotel you want should be accepted.

Betterbidding also provides the same information for HotWire. It is part of the same group that owns Expedia and, but is primarily designed for US customers and is paid in dollars – which increases costs for UK customers.

The HotWire system is similar to Priceline, excluding the direction of the offer. You know in advance the star rating, the area of the city and the total cost (plus taxes and expenses). A quick look at Betterbidding should give you an idea of which hotels are selling in different categories and cities. The site is not as strong as Priceline in hotels outside North America.

We recommend that you try to check prices directly with both of these sites, hotels or hotels in a similar category. Neither nor Expedia / (the companies behind these mystery sites) sell hotels cheaply. In some cases, a 20% discount on prices will only be equal to a 10% discount available elsewhere. If you think you can buy a room at Luxor in Las Vegas for $ 65, you’ll find it better to take the estimates and book directly with the hotel for $ 72.

Of course, we can’t recommend Priceline and Betterbidding to everyone. It can be time consuming and dangerous. There is a huge potential for error: you can easily pay quite a lot of money for a hotel you don’t want. Another important danger is that you can face the whole game and focus more on trying to ‘win’ than on finding a hotel that suits you! However, especially in the United States, there are some original bargains where Priceline is more powerful, and there is a lot of information about Betterbidding. If you are looking for a few nights in a hotel in New York and have the time and patience, you can get a good deal.

If I book a mystery deal for a special price, will I get the worst room in the hotel?

Several hotels are likely to use these mysterious deals to sell a handful of less desirable rooms that they would not normally sell if the hotel is not full. Many hotels will give you a standard room, but as is common for rooms booked at special prices through agents, it will probably be the lowest category room available. Better rooms can be on higher floors, have more modern furniture or better views, and these rooms can be reserved for customers who book directly at the hotel.

But …

If you have booked a standard room through an agent (whether Priceline or not), there is no reason why you should not upgrade the room when you arrive. Many hotel agency customers are very happy to be promoted to rooms on the executive floor (perhaps £ 30 per night) or to be given a room that is wider or more scenic. Hotels are looking for extra income at every opportunity, and if someone offers them money and has a better room, they are unlikely to turn them down. Interestingly, this method can often lead to a free upgrade! A receptionist may find the task of taking an extra charge on a computer system too daunting and allocate a better room for free. Offering to pay for an upgrade may simply be a better way to get a better upgrade than you want.

US Hotels: Luxury and Affordable

Accommodation is the main problem of every tourist. If you get a beautiful place at reasonable prices for your destination, your taste will double. If you find a place you like in a foreign country, your whole travel experience is full of great memories. Each tourist destination is fully interested in the appropriate living conditions for visitors. The United States is a country that offers excellent regulations to solve this major problem for travelers.

You will find hotels and resorts in every corner of this country, from luxury to simple hotels. All major cities have world-famous hotel chains. Some are the best examples of modern architectural perfection. New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and many other cities will never force you to look for hotels in the place you are interested in and love. Hotels such as Hyatt and Hilton are on the list of hotels in the United States.

Travelers traveling to US cities are not short of affordable hotels with modern facilities. Whatever the type of place, you can find the right place and the right type of accommodation for your taste. For example, a beach attraction has several magnificent beach resorts and a beach hotel. Incredible accommodation in the city center makes your trip even easier. All hotels are magnificent in terms of rooms, rooms, locations, size and architecture.

Hotel Gimmicks and Marketing

It is no secret that hotels need promotions and marketing to bring their brands to market and gain new customers. Still, there are some hotels that go beyond the usual type of advertising that most people expect. So let’s take a look at some hotel examples that make different efforts to stand out from the crowd under the guise of good old marketing to attract people.

When it comes to tricks, a city always comes to mind. Las Vegas, otherwise known as Sin City, is due to all the gambling and other things going on in the strip and surrounding areas. The city’s hotels, from the magnificent hotels with their own high-end casinos to the smallest motels, all have tricks that try to attract the amazed guest.

Caesar’s Palace, perhaps, represents the charming Las Vegas hotels with Roman-themed landscapes and architecture and a huge main water fountain. The luxury hotel also has a post-Coliseum entertainment space, among other sub-spaces. Called the Colosseum at the Palace of the Foolish Caesar, this house hosted guests such as Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Elton John and Cher.

On the opposite shore, there is a 198-room facility called Donovan House, which has a kind of CIA theme. After all, the hotel is named after Major General William Joseph “Wild Bill” Donova, who heads the US Bureau of Strategic Services. OSS was ahead of the CIA, so Donovan is considered the father of the CIA. The theme of Donovan House includes watchmakers for hotel staff and spiral showers in the cocoon – alludes to things that secret agents have probably pinched.

Another hotel marketing trick is the cheese-covered hotel room at the Washington Jefferson Hotel in New York. To create a tourist attraction, the hotel manager hired an artist to completely decorate a room with 1,000 pounds of melted cheese. Yep and this is cheese directly from the Swiss Cheese Fund. Now a room with cheese.

Go to Europe for a scary and strange trick: the Vampire Room at the Propeller Island Hotel in Berlin, Germany. As the name suggests, this room was probably best rented by people like Lestat or Edward Cullen. There are several coffins in the room for people to sleep in, and there are even crosses engraved on the coffin covers! If you are not into this subject, the hotel is also a Cage Room where you can do some research in the comfort of two raised cages.

All over the world, there are many different hotels that offer different types of attractions and tricks. With so many hotels breaking the point of the planet, it is a must to be able to think of something unique in order to attract guests. It works for the hotel and also for guests who are experiencing something unusual. The next time you book a hotel, see if you can find one with a theme or rooms with a unique design, so you get a fairly refreshing hotel experience.
